Simple Shifts That Transform Lives
I wrote the “Simple Shifts That Transform Lives” in 1999. After years of intense personal growth study, I GOT that each of us has the wisdom and the capability to change our lives NOW, and the steps to do so are not complicated or enduring. The shifts, based on wisdom I had learned from wonderful “teachers of life” before me, change lives. When you choose to shift, you own your full power and live the most extraordinary life. You access the absolute best that is within you. When you choose to shift, you play big on every level. You see the best in others and the best in yourself. You appreciate beauty, believe in possibility, and allow the magnificent master plan of your life to unfold.
A shift is an absolute leaving behind of an old perception or attitude because it serves you no more. A simple shift transforms your life. And when you practice shifting, and developing your ability to choose to shift, it gets easier with time. Your shifts become a natural part of who you are. You are still the same person, yet somehow very different. You feel joy. You feel abundance. You feel at peace. Your life is purposeful. Your life is extraordinary. You did everything and yet you did nothing. You simply shifted and all was complete.
Shift #1 From Deficit to Abundance
What am I grateful for in this moment? Does this thought serve me?
Choose your thoughts. Choose thoughts that serve your life and your relationships. You will always find evidence to validate what you think, so choose wisely. Gratitude will always take you to an abundant place.
Shift #2 From Playing Small to Playing Big
What Would my Highest Self Do?
Your highest self is the best within you. Your highest self has compassion, integrity, courage, and reverence. Your highest self does the right thing. When you are stuck or experience uncertainty, ask, “What would my Highest Self do?” and you will always have your answer. It allows the natural progression of events in your life to unfold for the greater good.
Shift #3 From Obstacle to Opportunity
What is this here to teach me?
Every obstacle or challenge, no matter how great or small, is an opportunity if you choose to make it one. Obstacles are your greatest teacher. The “master plan” for your life is far more powerful than you can possibly imagine, and when you embrace the opportunity you allow the master plan to unfold. With this one shift, you transform your life.
Shift #4 From Blame to Responsibility
How have I created this? What am I not giving?
Anytime you blame someone or something in your life, you stay stuck. You are the problem and you are the solution. You create your life by what you do and don’t do and by what you say and don’t say. You are responsible for your life. When you embrace this truth, you access your power.
Shift #5 From “What You Want” to “What You Intend.”
What is my intention?
Thoughts are energy. What you think about, you attract into your life. Get clear about what you want but don’t stay there. Instead create and live with intention around that which you want. When you live with intention, you move your life forward in the direction of your dreams.
Shift #6 From Ego to Spirit
What Does my Spirit Tell me?
Spirit is your essential truth. Ego is fear and all forms of deficit thinking. When you are feeling vulnerable or unsure, close your eyes, breathe in deeply, and ask, “What does my Spirit tell me?” Your spirit is wise, creative, and resourceful. Your spirit is without limits and without scarcity. When you access Spirit, you transform the planet.
Shift #7 From Thought to Action
What commitment will have the greatest impact on my life?
Your life is precious. Live it to the best of your ability. Every choice you make moves you closer or farther away from the life of your dreams. Own your power. Eliminate self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors. Be present to the blessings around you. Live with intention.
